Business Meeting

The business meeting for ANTS XIII will be Tuesday, July 17 from 3:45-4:45 PM. We will hear bids to host the next ANTS conference, and discuss several issues related to the future of ANTS. Here is a brief agenda.

2. Brief Overview of ANTS Decision Making (3:45-3:50 pm)

   You will be asked to vote on some items at this meeting.

3. Bids for ANTS 2020

   1. UNSW Canberra (3:50-3:55 pm)
   2. New Zealand/Tahiti (3:55-4:00 pm)
   3. Bejing (4:00-4:05 pm)

4. Conference Proceedings (4:05-4:20 pm)

   We are not going to discuss individual publishers at this business meeting.
   1. Quick recap of the history
   2. Discussion and vote: Should the organizers/PC keep choosing the publisher?
   3. Discussion vote: If not, should the Steering Committee be in charge of the choice (possibly delegated)?

5. “Welcoming Environment” policy, aka Harassment and Discrimination (4:20-4:30 pm)

   1. Discussion and Vote: Should ANTS adopt a standard policy?
      For ANTS 2018 we have adopted the Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment for Members and Event Attendees set out by the Association for Computing Machinery: https://www.acm.org/special-interest-groups/volunteer-resources/officers-manual/policy-against-discrimination-and-harassment
   2. Discussion and Vote: If so, should the Steering Committee be in charge of drafting one (possibly delegated)?


6. By-Laws Discussion (4:30-4:45 pm)

1. Discussion and Vote: Should ANTS adopt official by-laws to include, e.g., the above decisions?
2. Discussion and Vote: Should the Steering Committee consider (possibly by delegating) incorporating ANTS as a non-profit?
   E.g. the “Algorithmic Number Theory Society”? The Computational Complexity Conference did this and has posted their organizing documents online at http://www.computationalcomplexity.org/foundation/.
