Banff is located in the beautiful Banff National Park, approximately 120 km or 75 miles north of Calgary. The park is home to numerous wildlife such as deer, elk, bighorn sheep, cougars, and bears. Opportunities for outdoor activities abound: hiking, biking, horseback riding, mountain climbing, canoeing, fishing, and bird watching. The town of Banff offers a variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants.

Please be advised that the weather in the mountains can be unpredicable; snow as well as considerable temperature fluctuations are not unusual in May. Visitors are advised to bring wam clothing and consult the weather forecast for Banff.
